Prof. John Rink teaches at the University of Cambridge, where he is Professor of Musical Performance Studies and a Fellow of St John’s College. He specialises in the fields of performance studies, theory and analysis, and nineteenth-century studies. Prof. Rink directs the £2.1 million (about RMB 20 million) AHRC Research Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice, a five-year research project based at the University of Cambridge in partnership with a number of world-leading research institutions. Prof. Rink has published six books with Cambridge University Press, among which the 993-page Annotated Catalogue of Chopin's First Editions won two authoritative international prizes while the Musical Performance: A Guide to Understanding, one of the best-selling music publications in the world in recent years, has been translated into various different languages (such as Spanish and French) and widely adopted as the textbook of music courses in many universities world-wide. In terms of piano performance, he holds the Concert Recital Diploma and Premier Prix in piano from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
